A competitive three-point shooting drill built on the kick out after an offensive rebound and the extra pass that turns it into an open three. The name comes from a phrase used by former Villanova coach Jay Wright.
Setup:
Split the players into two teams, each on its own side of the floor with one ball. One player starts under the basket with the ball, one at the slot and one on the wing. The rest of the team lines up on the baseline.
Rules:
The player under the basket kicks the ball out to the slot, and the slot makes one more pass to the wing for a three. After each shot every player moves up one spot: the rebounder becomes the passer, the passer becomes the shooter and the shooter goes to the end of the rebounding line. Play to a set score, such as first team to 15 or 20.
Coaching points:
- Rebound and kick the ball out right away.
- Make the extra pass on the catch, without a dribble.
- Be ready to shoot before the ball arrives.
